Dominion Arboretum: Arboretum Tree Tours

Arboretum Tree Tours are typically offered every month from May to November and are guided by local experts. Although the tours are free and open to the public, you must register in advance by clicking the event titles below. Space is limited to 40 people per tour. Donations to the Friends of the Farm are gratefully accepted during the tours.

Lady Dive: Tulip Festival Shuttle

Lady Dive is the official transportation for the annual Tulip Festival in Ottawa. Our shuttle stops at The Westin Ottawa, the ByWard Market, the Chateau Laurier, the Lord Elgin Hotel, the Canadian Tulip Festival at Commissioners Park and the Food and Agriculture Museum. The shuttle runs hourly on weekdays (10:00 am – 6:00 pm) and every 30 min on weekends (10:00 am – 6:00 pm). Times may vary. A one-way ticket costs $15.00, or you can get a two-way ticket for just $25.00!

For those looking for more adventure, we also have an amphibus (land and water experience) and double-deckers that tour around the city. The double-decker has a stop at the tulip festival on weekdays. Visit us in the Partners Plaza at Dow’s Lake for more information.

Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

Located on a national heritage site, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is the world’s only working farm in the heart of a capital city.

The museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to see diverse breeds of farm animals—important to past and present Canadian agriculture—and to learn about the food they eat. In addition to breeds common to Canadian agriculture, such as Holstein dairy cows and Angus beef cows, the museum also has Canadienne and Milking Shorthorn dairy cows, and Tamworth pigs. Many other breeds of dairy and beef cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, poultry, goats, rabbits and even honeybees round out the collection.

Canadian Museum of Nature

The Canadian Museum of Nature is both an educational and scientific institution, as well as a popular, downtown-Ottawa tourist attraction—housed in a historic castle-like building.

Chaotic Industry

Chaotic Industry is part of the Canadian Tulip Festival’s Ghosts of the Glebe walking tour. 

Meet your tour guide, a young Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Reservist from 1946, in front of the HMCS Carleton. The Second World War ended the year before, and the Tulips are blooming for the first time in Ottawa, from the grateful Netherlands.  

Hear the haunting stories of her friends from the local neighbourhood that gave the ultimate sacrifice and never made the trip home from their fight for freedom.

Dows Lake Pavilion

Dows Lake Pavilion offers an ideal location for the enjoyment of Ottawa’s historic Rideau Canal.

Situated at 1001 Queen Elizabeth Drive in Ottawa, it offers an abundance of parking, options for recreational activities, appetising restaurants with scenic water views and is an easy access point for individuals that don’t want to battle traffic or deal with the headache of finding a parking spot in a busy downtown core.

HMCS Carleton

The Ottawa Half-Company was established in 1923, and was formally commissioned in late 1941. HMCS Carleton moved into its present home on Dow’s Lake in December 1943, and during the course of the war saw to the training of some 4,620 officers and men.

The Juno Beach Centre

The Juno Beach Centre is Canada’s Second World War museum and cultural centre located in Normandy, France. The Centre pays homage to the 45,000 Canadians who lost their lives during the War, of which 5,500 were killed during the Battle of Normandy and 381 on D-Day. Opened in 2003 by veterans and volunteers with a vision to create a permanent memorial to all Canadians who served during the Second World War, the Centre’s mandate is to preserve this legacy for future generations through education and remembrance.
