” I am planting for” in memory of my father-in-law Pvt. Robert Roy Skinner. He took part in D-Day operations, as an Amo truck driver. He was in the second wave landing operation at Normandy. As like many veterans, he didn’t talk very much of his experiences, but we (children and spouses) learned that at some point, he was taken prisoner, and spent the last months of the war as a pow in Germany. Unfortunately, we do not have a photograph of this man/hero, who passed away in 2004.
