When do tulips signify freedom?
When the Dutch give them to Canadians in thanks for the liberation of their country from the tyranny of the Nazis 75 years ago, on May 5, 1945.
Across Canada, we plant millions of tulip bulbs with a spring garden in mind and in anticipation of a colourful end to winter. Spring, as we think of it, is often visualized with a tulip somewhere in the image.
