I am planting for my Dad, CWO H E Harrity.

Dad joined up voluntarily to fight overseas when he was a young lad of 16, living in NB. As both the airforce and navy had long waiting lists, when the chance came to become a member of Canada’s 1st Can Paras, he leapt at the opportunity. Dad first saw action in 1944 and remained with the military for the rest of his life. Sadly, we don’t know the details of his wartime career, though we believe he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhine. Some of his comrades are buried in Groesbeek, which we visited with him as small children while he was stationed overseas in the late 60″s. Dad served in WWII, the Korean war and a number of peacekeeping missions. He died a serving member of the forces in 1977.
