For my Father, William R. (Bill) Harris.

Bill Harris served his country from 1942-1946 in the Canadian Army, Second Armoured Brigade, Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He married Joan in 1944 in Norwich, England and after the war they lived in Wingham, Ontario. They often returned to Holland for reunions to commemorate the Liberation of Holland.
He worked for CKNX Radio/Television for 37 years. Bill worked his way up from Radio Operator and Cameraman to Television Crew Supervisor. He retired in 1986.
Bill spent many years serving his community as a member and chairman of the Wingham Public School Board.
He was elected for over ten years to the Wingham Town Council where he was Mayor and Chairman of the Police Commission where he instigated the installation of radio communication in the area police force. Bill was also the Deputy-Reeve while on the town council.
He was an active member of the Wingham Masonic Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion.
After a full and happy life, Bill passed away at the age of 79 on Feb. 18, 2002.
