We are planting these bulbs in honour and memory of our father/father-in-law, the late Corporal John Doan Bird, Royal Winnipeg Rifles, (August 1943 – December 1945), who landed on Juno Beach in Normandy on D-Day and fought through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member of the Canadian forces who liberated the Scheldt in Holland.
