My grandfather fought in the Boer War with the British Army and then in WWI with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. My dad was born while his father was overseas. Dad later was a flying instructor during WWII.

My husband’s uncle, Joe Hinds, was killed in action April 28, 1945, just 6 weeks after his 20th birthday. He is buried in Holten Canadian War Cemetery.
