WRENS Boat Deck Experience Presented by Veterans Affairs Canada

Take a step back in time with Veteran’s Affairs Canada. Our Boat Deck presented by VAC gives you a glimpse into what it was like for the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve during the Second World War. Set in the centre of Commissioners Park, come by to see the history, learn semaphore, and of course, take fun photos on deck!

In 1942 the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service was created. This division allowed women to join the Royal Canadian Navy for the first time. The WRCNS, also known as Wrens, proved women were just as vital to the allied forces as any man. These women, working at home and overseas, made a huge difference in the fight for freedom! Visit our Wrens Experience on the boat deck and learn more about these amazing women.
