Featured Artist Program

The Canadian Tulip Festival introduced the Featured Artist Program in 2017, choosing a single artist to create the visual theme for the year as well as have them develop and curate urban tulip art, promotions and activities in the ByWard Market, The Urban Tulip Experience - one of the four key dedicated sites of the Festival.

This year’s featured artist is Monique Martin, whose whimsical and charming visual of “The World of Tulips” theme will be showcased throughout the 10-day celebration of tulips. Monique is a multi-disciplinary based artist in Saskatoon, Canada. Monique has exhibited printmaking, paintings, sculptures, installations and book works in more than 190 solo, invited and juried group exhibitions in nine countries. Her works are held in more than twenty-five public and private collections in nine different countries. Learn more at http://moniqueart.com/

BEX- 2017

BEX was the first artist ever to be featured at the Canadian Tulip Festival during its 65th anniversary. His installations in the Byward Market were particularly memorable and served to initiate the Market as one of the Festival’s four key locations. His “flag tulip” as BEX commented, “…is an homage to my grandpa and to my Dutch roots. But beyond that I feel the tulip represents a common, unique, and colorful beauty we all possess.” Find BEX on Facebook (/bexartist) and Instagram (@jpbex) or learn more at  http://www.bexartist.com/
