Flaming Parrot Tulip

$325.00 CAD

The Flaming Parrot Tulip is a featured parrot tulip at the 2021 Canada Tulip Festival. Here it is made entirely by hand, using polymer clay for the petals, and crepe paper for the leaf and centre. The petals are individually painted by hand, and buckle and churn with licks of bright red against a softer yellow. The inside of the tulip appears to glow from within, and every detail in the centre has been faithfully rendered in paper, including stamens that seem to be covered in pollen. It is displayed freestanding on a painted wood base with gilded gold wax details, and signed on the bottom with a wax seal.

Tulips measure 10” high and 3.5” wide, base is 3” diameter. Price includes shipping direct from the artist. Please allow up to 6 weeks for the artist to create your botanical masterpiece.

Handmade in Toronto by Kathryn Bondy — Botanical Artist, Golden Age Botanicals.
* This piece is archival, but should be displayed away from direct sunlight to keep colours from fading. Do not expose to moisture. Can be cleaned gently with a duster*

Description

KATHRYN BONDY IS A BOTANICAL ARTIST AND THE FOUNDER OF GOLDEN AGE BOTANICALS.

She creates stunningly lifelike botanical keepsakes entirely by hand in her Toronto studio. With refined techniques developed over many years, every element is made in faithful realism, using a material that captures the essence of the example that nature provides. Crepe paper is often dyed by hand, wire is delicately shaped, and petals and leaves are sculpted and curved just-so, creating pieces that are rooted in beauty and offer a quiet study of nature’s wonder.
