Celebrating 25 years in her artistry, Barbara Simpson is recognized for her “originals-only” (no prints) approach. Barbara is a Canadian Visual Artist with her art practice beginning in Calgary, Alberta in January 1998. She relocated to Brockville Ontario (2005), St. Catharines (2015), and has now made Ottawa her home.
Primarily painting in the acrylic medium, Barbara has also employed charcoal, pastels, oils, and other media into her work over the years. Notable for her energetic use of joyful and passionate colour in her Impressionistic, Contemporary, and Modern paintings, Barbara says she does not conform to orthodox ways of painting, instead breaking boundaries and moving outside of her comfort zone while remaining authentic in her work. Barbara says that it has always been her aspiration to enrich and inspire peoples’ lives with her colour and joy, and states she is grateful to all who have made her journey as an “originals-only” artist possible, making them a part of her legacy she will leave one day.
Barbara has participated in many Canadian Tulip Festivals including 2009, 2018, 2019, 2021 (virtually) and 2022 for the 70th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee, and again in 2023 with her beautiful original works.
Barbara is a member of CARFAC – the national voice for Canadian professional artists – since 1998. All of Barbara’s paintings are hand-signed and carefully packaged and shipped direct from the artist together with a Certificate of Authenticity. Private collections of Barbara Simpson’s work are largely found in Alberta, Ontario, other locations across Canada, USA, and overseas.
