The Queen Juliana Bed

Presented by NCC CCN

May 11-21

The National Capital Commission receives 20,000 gift bulbs from the Netherlands every year. Most of these “Royal” bulbs are planted in the Queen Juliana Bed in Commissioner’s Park. A number go to the Civic hospital where Princess Margriet was born; some are given to the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre; and the remainder are sent to Beechwood Military Cemetery. The Queen Juliana Bed is located at the west entrance of the Park, and will be particularly beautiful this spring having been planted with the bright colours of red, yellow, purple and orange tulips within a border of blue grape hyacinths.
